Our walk last month from Rochford took us across the boundary of Worcester Diocese into the Diocese of Hereford, and we thought and talked about boundaries. What are the boundaries of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour? What are the differences (if any) on the different sides of a boundary that is crossed? What boundaries do we humans create, and do they matter? If God is infinite, what boundaries can there be to God and to God's love? We had some fascinating conversations.
This month we'll meet on Sunday 16th March at 2.00pm. It's been a little while since we've walked from Eastham, and we'll meet at Eastham church (postcode WR15 8NW, but NB this covers quite a large area!). I've reconnoitred a route of four and a quarter miles. It's along bridleways, footpaths and lanes. When I walked it, mostly it was good under foot. There are no stiles. The only livestock I encountered were ewes and lambs (lots of them!) It does go up and down a bit (approx 300ft), but nothing desperately steep. When I walked it, it took me a leisurely hour and a half, but it will be longer with stops for conversation/reflection.
Next month, April, the third Sunday is Easter Day. As some of us will have been up for a Dawn Service and others are likely to be involved with family events, it might be sensible to move Walking Church to the following week that month. I'll keep you updated with news.
Best wishes,
Robert
